From the first conversation to filming, editing and delivery, he helps shape each production around the people you want to reach, the message you need to share and where the finished work will be used. It starts with your brief: what you want to communicate, where filming will take place and when you need the finished work. Scope, review arrangements and delivery are discussed before production begins. His interest grew from the stories on screen to how pictures, sound and editing worked together. In the late 1990s, friends hoping to become rap artists needed a music video. Just out of high school and without a production budget, Andrew filmed it with his uncle's Hi8 camcorder. ### Making a start with what was available Editing called for ingenuity. With four borrowed video cassette recorders and a homemade switching setup, he played scenes from three machines and recorded the sequence on the fourth. It was a practical introduction to timing, visual continuity and problem-solving. Finding a way to bring an idea to the screen became part of how he approached the work. ![Illustrated reconstruction of Andrew's first editing setup with four VCRs, household light switches, Hi8 camcorder and television](https://www.buffalofilmstudios.com.au/hs-fs/hubfs/editing-rig-with-tv.png?width=1536&height=1024&name=editing-rig-with-tv.png) Illustrated reconstruction of Andrew's first editing setup. ## The name behind Buffalo Buffalo Film Studios is named in honour of Andrew's late father, known to family and friends as Uncle Buffalo. The name keeps his memory close and carries that family connection into the business. ![Andrew's father, David Ngumba Njuguna, known as Uncle Buffalo](https://www.buffalofilmstudios.com.au/hs-fs/hubfs/Dad_David%20Ngumba%20Njuguna_Buffalo.jpg?width=473&height=358&name=Dad_David%20Ngumba%20Njuguna_Buffalo.jpg) Andrew's father, David Ngumba Njuguna, known as Uncle Buffalo. ![Andrew Njuguna ](https://www.buffalofilmstudios.com.au/hs-fs/hubfs/Andrew%20Njuguna%20.png?width=1200&height=601&name=Andrew%20Njuguna%20.png "Andrew Njuguna ") ## Building a filmmaking life in Perth Andrew began filming weddings, funerals and concerts in Kenya before moving to Perth to continue his education. He carried on working as a wedding filmmaker and joined the television media team at Riverview Church as a volunteer. Mentored by media director Francis O’Donohue, he gained experience filming live performances, conferences and seminars. Live event and performing arts coverage remain part of Buffalo’s work. ![Dad\_David Ngumba Njuguna\_Buffalo](https://www.buffalofilmstudios.com.au/hubfs/Dad_David%20Ngumba%20Njuguna_Buffalo.jpg "Dad_David Ngumba Njuguna_Buffalo") ## Buffalo Film Studios today Today, Buffalo works with Perth businesses and organisations on corporate and promotional videos, testimonials, event coverage and photography.
